The first time Alexis Jones spoke to our students she closed to cheers and a standing ovation. The next morning I was greeted at school by a mass of students who had to have her address in order to write to her. They were convinced that only she could understand them! Last year Alexis Jones provided an inspirational presentation that was mesmerizing to our all-girl student body. Her message, be true to yourself, each of us is beautiful, and its hard work that brings us true success, touched our girls in a way that left them feeling inspired and empowered. When Alexis returned this year for a second visit, our girls were excited to greet home one of their "sisters." Never imagining she could top her first presentation, we were once again blown away. This year's message, never sell out your values, captivated our girls and left them aspiring to model after her.

Her style and her real personal experiences make her a motivational presenter who is welcome back on our campus as frequently as she can make possible. She makes an immediate connection with her audience leaving them ready to make her message a part of themselves. That message has warmed the souls of our young girls!

I worked with Alexis last summer at a youth camp (WADI) in Cairo, Egypt. I watched her all through the 9 days we were there and have seen the wonders that she does with girls. She engaged the group of girls right from the start, opened up on aspects of her personal development, and encouraged the girls to share their own stories and experiences. I met Alexis originally when she joined a friend and client of mine for private yoga instruction. We became very close friends finding a mutual passion for betterment of the world at large. As the originator of a training business for mental, spiritual, and physical fitness, and the designer of original acting methodology for artists, I've learned what kind of determination and fortitude it takes to move projects and business forward. My connection to Alexis Jones is more personal than professional, though I feel a little qualified to comment on both. I am the CEO of a national marketing company and I employ a lot of young professionals, so I am around a of people Alexis' age. If our first meeting had been an interview rather than a cross-country flight, she would definitely have been hired!

I met Alexis when we were seated next to each other on an LA-NYC flight.. By the time we landed at JFK, I had made a new friend and an incredible almost re-connection to what young, female power and leadership really looks like. I was blown away not only by Lex's incredible drive and passion for helping under-served girls but also by her unique self-possession. She had a confidence that belied her young years, yet she was not arrogant or over-reaching in any way. In fact, she had something I see less and less in people her age, interest and curiosity in others. And it was genuine. As the founder and director of I Am That Girl, Alexis has created an online community that empowers girls and women to dream big!

Girlstart empowers girls in math, science and technology, and I've seen firsthand how increased confidence can empower a girl to try new things and believe in herself. Alexis embraces that concept completely! She is a great example of someone who is positive, takes risks, and embraces challenges/obstacles. Last year Alexis was the keynote for our Expanding Your Horizons Conference, which had nearly 400 middle school girls in attendance. Alexis knocked it out of the ballpark! "Who Is This Girl"? Alexis Jones humbled our small city of Thunder Bay, Ontario with her radiant and inspirational appearance at the annual Royal LePage Lannon Realty Women's Run. She performed two motivational speeches for our company and inspired the women of Thunder Bay and employees of Royal LePage to strive for greater accomplishments and to dream BIG. She reminded us that even though we are moving along...it is never too late to set and achieve even bigger dreams - to just go for it, without looking back. On a personal level, I was graced with the opportunity to spend time with her. I was instantly moved by her beautiful and sincere presence. She literally brings love and joy to all those she touches. She is a precious gift and a true gem. Alexis re-ignited the once dim fire within my soul and channeled my energies, which are like a blazing forest fire, toward greater aspirations. I recently enrolled again as a student at Lakehead University to obtain my Masters in Social Work in order to gain the credentials to help those struggling with addictions and the hardships. I sincerely credit Alexis for the positive injection that I needed at this very moment in my life to take the reigns and push forward to accomplish my goals. I am sure that her humility won't allow her to even see how her very short visit to Thunder Bay, Ontario has touched the lives of so many and that her legacy will continue to live on in our hearts.
